Words of Wisdom

I found an interesting book at the library last week. 8,789 Words of Wisdom by Barbara Ann Kipfer contains thought provoking quotes. Many of the quotes are cutesy sayings with lots of gag-potential. Fortunately, there are enough gems to keep my interest. There were a lot of contradictions, which provided small doses of humor throughout my day. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Love carries great expectations (two pages later, I found this gem)
  • Love without expectation

  • Love books (contrasted with this idea)
  • One line of wisdom can change your life more than volumes of books.

  • Panic productively.
  • If you buy buy happiness on installments, the payments last much longer than the happiness.
  • The purpose of schools is to teach how to become self-educated.
  • Don't apologize for being early (If you show up at my door two hours early, you'd better apologize. Expect to find me still cleaning!)
  • We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once. Calvin Coolidge
