Yay Joe!
I didn't know you lived in Battle Creek! I used to live there. In 2nd and 3rd grade. That was many years ago, but I still remember some things. We lived at 160 Beckwith...Lots of fruit trees in the backyard and a huge garden full of raspberries. Across the street lived Austin (T)Hatcher and Larry Oakletree. Next to us lived Steve Howard (and his dog Winston). Matthew Schmidt lived behind us and he broke his arm on the way to school one day. We had a crabby crossing guard with a hook for an arm and I was always jealous because my friend Jenny got to eat butter noodles for lunch.
I think there was a homeschooling family that lived behind us and up the street...the Westbooks I think.
Thanks for taking me on that trip down memory lane (whether you meant to or not...)

Kari,
I moved to Battle Creek from the Chicago area when I was 5 years old. So I'm sure that we were both here at the same time. I lived near Territorial road when I was growing up. What years were you in 2nd and 3rd grade? Which elementary school did you go to? Our family spent a lot of time at Goguac Beach in the summer or at Fort Custer.
Let's see...76 to 78 I think. I went to Minges Brook (spelling?) elementary and our principal was Mr. Grimes. My dad worked at Kellogg so I remember touring the plant A LOT! How big is Battle Creek now? Are we about the same age? I'll dig in my brain for some more names...wouldn't it be funny if we knew some of the same people?!?!?
Kari
I was in junior high in 76-78, so you're just a young pup! I had a lot of friends in the Riverside area. Did you attend St. John's Church?
