The Rush to the Finish

We've all been working frantically to get everything finished for the Entrepreneur Expo, which is scheduled for Tuesday. The printer has been working non-stop and I've been refilling ink cartridges almost in my sleep. Today, I finished making a 16 page catalog for the dog clothes business and helping Steve and Kate put together a slide show presentation to run at their booth.

Amy has been photographing all of Joe's windchimes and helping him put together his display board. The cameras are working overtime with all the photos that have been needed. I'm so glad that I stocked up on rechargeable batteries a few months ago. The unexpected expenses are taking a toll on our budget.

Tempers have been strained this weekend. The three kids who are in the Expo are nervous and hoping to recoup their investments. The amount of things that needed to be done was overwhelming. Two out of the four Entrepreneur classes each month consisted of 1 1/2 hour of playing cards and 1 hour of work. The teacher had scheduling problems and arrived at the class late twice a month. I understand the scheduling difficulties, but it really caused a lot of last minute work that could have been done during class time.

Kate and Steve have really struggled with working together on the project. Each one feels that they are doing more work and that the other person is yelling at them all the time. During a particularly tense moment, I threatened to not let them talk to each other for a week. Later, Kate was talking about the changes that she and Steve could make next year on their business. I announced that for their mother's sake they should NOT work together next year.

Only 4 more forms still need to be designed and printed. Then, business attire needs to be purchased for the boys and a pair of shoes for Katie. Tomorrow, the kids will practice their presentations and pack up to move everything to the hall. Tuesday, the kids need to arrive at 7:30am to set up their tables. The Expo ends at 3:00pm and is followed by the awards ceremony. I will be so glad when Wednesday arrives. I plan on taking the kids on a picnic/bike ride and sleeping in late. TWO MORE DAYS!
