Friday, Katie had a cousin spend the night. It was nice to see Lauren again. Now that the girls are older, they have a difficult time getting together as much as they did when both were both homeschooled. Katie is so busy working and taking classes at the community college; Lauren is involved with a lot of school activities. They enjoyed the night but didn't get much sleep. I think they went to sleep around 5:00 am.
Saturday, I took all the at-home kids to see the Christmas parade. They weather was perfect, around 50 degrees, with clear skies. A few years ago, the parade organizers placed a maximum amount on the number of participants. The parade used to last up to three hours; this year's parade was 1 1/2 hours. My younger girls were still interested when Santa Claus made his appearance. The kids got a ton of candy, which everyone agreed to share equally.
After we got home, Allie started to complain about a sore in her mouth. Mike inspected her mouth and discovered an abscess in her gums. One side of her face began to swell, so we took her to the emergency room. The ER doctor thinks that she got a popcorn hull or kernel jammed in her gum that eventually turned into the abscess. Her swelling was lanced and she was given a prescription for antibiotics. The dentist's office is closed on Mondays, so we'll get her an appointment tomorrow morning. We got back from the emergency room around 1:00am.
Sunday, I managed to make several clear paths in my bedroom. Packing is not helping me keep my bedroom organized! I made one pair of lounge pants, two pairs of slacks, and 5 Barbie outfits for various people for Christmas. Hopefully, the Christmas sewing will get completed in the next two weeks.
The outdoor lights got put up on the bushes in front of the house. We aren't able to place lights on the large pine tree because the ladders are all in Three Rivers. The kids suggested that we bring one ladder back here, but I don't want to haul a ladder back and forth.
