Doctor Visit 2

Steve and I left at 7:00am for his doctor visit today. He was having a growth hormone test done. After we reached the doctor's office, the receptionist explained that the test would be done at an office on the floor below. That happened to be the office where I took Katie yesterday.

After we approached the check-in desk, we stood for 15 minutes before anyone checked him in. No other patients were in the office. The receptionist and office personnel we dealt with yesterday ignored us. Finally, a nurse checked him in and escorted him to the room. The test took 4 1/2 hours. He was really sleepy throughout the procedure. The blood pressure medication made him dizzy. We should have the results in about 3 weeks. Our insurance will determine from the results whether they will pay for his shots or not. We can't afford to pay for the shots ourselves, so I'm praying for the correct results.

We have been waiting for the last 2 1/2 years for some increase in his growth. In December, Steve will turn 14. He tops the scale at 66 pounds. He wears a size 8 in boys' pants. The bone scans indicate that he will not do his growth spurt for another 3 years. The last 6 months have been really hard for Steve. He is being challenged about his age from teachers, his peers, librarians, etc. I've noticed a change in his personality. He cries a lot now and he didn't used to. He is no longer out-going and up-beat. He is withdrawn and quiet. In groups, he tries to be invisible. The change in behavior and self confidence is the main reason that I want to go ahead with the growth steroid shots.
