Amy's Favorite Cookies

Amy spent the afternoon baking cookies and cleaning the kitchen. I love it when she comes home! (and not just for her cleaning and cooking abilities!)

Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies

1/2 Cup shortening
1/2 Cup peanut butter
1/2 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
2 Tablespoon milk
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 Cup flour
sugar to roll dough in
Chocolate Kisses (we used Butterfinger Kisses and Almond Kisses)

Beat shortening and peanut butter with mixer for 30 seconds. Add the sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Beat until combined, scraping bowl. Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla. Add flour. Beat well.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in 350 degree oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven. Place 1 Kiss in the center of each baked cookie. Let cook. Makes about 50 cookies.
