December Baking
On the way home from church this morning, I asked the kids what types of Christmas cookies they wanted baked this year. Paige asked if we could have the star cookies with sugar on them. The other kids requested their favorites and I promised some cookies would be baked for tonight's dessert.
I asked on of the kids to make a batch of cookies this afternoon. Then, I headed off to my sewing room (usually called the master bedroom) for several hours. I found this bowl of cookies on the counter. They looked a little strange to me, so I took a sniff. They smelled a little weird also. After questioning several children, I learned that these aren't cookies. They are cat treats containing corn meal and tuna. (I'm so glad I didn't sample one!) Kaitlyn is making cat treats as part of a entrepreneur class. The students are selling pet items at the Humane Society to get a taste of running a business. In January, they will be beginning work on their own businesses.
Madelyn mixed up a batch of jam bars for dessert.

We have to make two kinds of cookies this week as part of a Higher Things fundraiser. Plus the Christmas cookies for ourselves.
My husband was involved in Junior Achievement as a boy. Is this similar?
The program is called Generation E. The students receive college credit for 3 business classes upon completion. Many of the activities are similar to Junior Achievement, but at the next level. Usually, Generation E is for adults.
Good luck on the fundraiser! I love to bake, but sure don't need the extra calories.
