Springtime School Slowdown

It's getting harder and harder to concentrate on school around here. Instead of paying attention to math assignments, parts of speech and history, thoughts focus on weather, birds and new foliage. Bike riding, walking, playing basketball are all more interesting than English papers.

It's not the children that are having trouble focusing, it's me. I'm ready to pack up the school supplies and enjoy working outdoors. It's time to shake out the winter cabin fever. Spring cleaning the entire house sounds like fun! The bathroom is calling for new paint. The sheets are eagerly awaiting the day when they are hung on the clothesline. Instead of doing these important and desired tasks, we need to continue to focus on getting our school work completed.

The children are still plodding along working on their various school assignments without too many reminders from me. I sure wish they would hurry up and finish, so we can go play.
