Transportation Challenges

It's been a rough year for our family's cars. My faithful van died a short while ago. Amy's car died about 3 months ago. Mike's car has almost 400,000 miles on it. We call his car "old reliable" because it has needed so few repairs over the years. Amy is working about 1/2 an hour away from where we live in the same large city where Mike works. Unfortunately, they rarely work the same type of hours. We seemed to coordinate everyone's schedules during robotics season to get everyone where they needed to be. Then Katie began a new job. She doesn't have quite enough money to purchase her own car, let alone pay for her insurance. It will be awhile before she has her own transportation.

Saturday, Mike's car broke down on his way home from work. I have no idea how we are going to get through this week. It will take the better part of this week before the part arrives, so we will need to try to work things out. Tuesday, Amy needs to work, Mike needs to work, Katie works, and Paige has a doctor's appointment. None of these trips happen at the same time. Wednesday, is another tricky day. Mike works, Amy works, and Katie and I need to attend an awards dinner at the local high school. Friday will probably send me over the edge. Amy has a birthday party 1 hour from the house. Katie works in town. Mike works 30 minutes away. Joe has a party in the town where Mike works, but it begins 9 hours after Mike goes into work. Steve probably will be starting a new job 20 minutes in the opposite direction. Hopefully, Mike's car will be fixed soon. It won't help me out of Friday much, but it will help a little.

Sometimes, I wished that we lived closer to where Mike works.
