Cross Country

Joe and Steve will be attending our local public school this year. Joe had expressed an interest in running on the cross-country team. He went to practice on Tuesday and learned that before he could practice, he needed a physical. Physicals are not something that a home school mom normally thinks about at the beginning of the school year. After making numerous phone calls, I learned that there are NO appointments available for sports physicals within a 50 mile radius. What's a mom to do?

After a few more phone calls, a solution was found. Joe was taken to a urgent care facility and had his sports physical. Monday will be his first practice with the team. On Wednesday, the team heads to the upper penninsula for 5 days of team building and practice. This will be a great experience for Joe and a good opportunity to make some new friends before the school year begins.

The coach has been very welcoming and is excited to have Joe on the team. The 5 day trip will be at his cabin near Paradise. There are several other adults who will be along to supervise the team. There are a number of hiking paths and sight-seeing places that the team will visit. I'm so happy that Joe has this opportunity.

My oldest is starting his second cross country season and my 7th grader is starting at the middle school. It has been such a positive experience for us!
