It's Dry Out There!

We have had a little over 1/2 an inch of rain during June.  Every morning we water the garden and flowers.  My grass is brown and crispy.  The farmers are running their irrigation systems almost constantly.  Today, the weather guys predicted a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms.  Around 2:00 the sky got dark.  Thunder began to rumble in the distance.  Lightening flashed from the clouds.  The smell of rain filled the air.

The children and I quickly took the dry clothes of the clothesline and picked up all the toys in the yard.  We all gathered on the front porch to await the rain.  Paige and Allie asked if they could play in the rain in their swim suits.  We waited.  Large drops began to fall.  The sidewalks were splashed with water.  Then it stopped.  The drought continues.

At least the heat dropped about 18 degrees, so we had a brief break from the high temperatures.
