Job Searches

Our 15-year old dd applied for a job last weekend at the local zoo. She's hoping to get a job working in concessions or admissions. The zoo holds a job fair each February to hire for the upcoming zoo season. This year the zoo is hiring 100 people. The job fair opened at 9:00 am. We arrived at 9:20 am. While in the car waiting for dd, I observed at least 75 people. I knew that Michigan had the highest unemployment rate in the nation, but I was still surprised to see so many 40-50 year old men applying for part-time, minimum wage jobs.
