Back to the Grind Stone

Our homeschool returned to studying in a more concise manner today. Sort of. Paige has a sore throat, so she did a partial day. She accomplished reading, Bible study, memory work, writing, math, and some spelling. Allie completed phonics, writing, memory work, Bible study, and some math. The older kids completed Bible with me first thing this morning and are working industriously in their rooms at their desks.

Madelyn only got yelled at once this morning for wasting time. Steve was reprimanded twice for playing around with his new fish, but has accomplished quite a bit. Joe actually asked for assistance with math. I'm not to sure what Katie's done, but will check up on her soon.

Over lunch, we had a wonderful discussion about elections and the strategies that are used by candidates to get elected. We spent almost 45 minutes planning an election for a mythical organization and how to effectively sway voters. I had forgotten the table discussions that occur when we all sit down to eat together. Joe and Madelyn were a little dismayed at our plotting. You would think that we were planning world domination, instead of a mythical organization. Some of my kids need to lighten up!

I bet it feels good to get back to "normal".
